St. Catherine of Genoa School

Where Everyone is Family - We Prepare students for success in life.

St. Catherine of Genoa School, located at 192 Summer Street, Somerville, has educated students for over eighty years. Our motto, “Christ-Community-Commitment” captures the spirit of Saint Catherine’s. The dedicated administrative faculty and staff create a learning environment in which students develop necessary skills for a responsible Christian citizenship which will hopefully impact their lives. Our school is an accredited member of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, (NEASC) which is proof that our standards are high and our curriculum enables us to meet these standards.

To assist our working families, we offer an After School Program supervised by our professional staff. This program is balanced with homework and playtime. We offer Girls Scouts from K2 through Grade 8, Art and Science club for grades K2- 8, and an intramural sports program for boys and girls in grades 6, 7, and 8. The intramural program includes basketball, soccer, floor hockey, flag football, and step dancing. Our student council is actively involved in the school and community. Children from kindergarten to grade 8 are also provided the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument.

Our up-to-date computer lab and access to the internet provide opportunities for the students to become proficient users of computer technology. A well-stocked library is available to the students for research and reading enjoyment. The science laboratory enables our students to experiment and thus reinforce their understanding of the concepts presented to them in class. Also, we have a large gymnasium and auditorium which is used for physical education, sports and musical presentations.

We are part of a Tri-Parish Initiative, “St. Ann, St. Catherine and St. Joseph.” These parishes work together to provide a Christian Service Program, which enables our children in K1- 8 to use their gifts to help other people in the community. Furthermore, we are blessed with dedicated priests and religious and Christian lay people who are actively involved in the school.

Financial aid is available for qualifying families.
