Buying beads on a budget is a lot easier – and fun! – than you may think.

Jewelry making is a fun and creative hobby and often a successful business. However, you may be having trouble building up your stash in the beginning. Buying beads is fun, exciting, and often addictive! You just can't stop when you find beads in such great new colors, sizes, and shapes!

When money is tight, just starting out, or pursuing beads as a hobby, purchasing the beads you'd like can be difficult.

The secret to buying beads on a budget is to think creatively about where to find your beads. And the bonus is that you may end up with very unique finds looking for beads to buy in this way.

Don't get overwhelmed, and don't get sidetracked. And no matter what you do – don't blow your budget. You will find every color bead imaginable, you'll find beads in bulk, lampwork beads, glass beads, wooden beads, shipwreck beads, acrylic beads, chamilia beads, seed beads, exotic beads, and beading tools. You name it, I'm sure you can find it on Ebay!

So, how do we buy beads on Ebay on a budget? Take your time and comparison shop. Make sure to take note of shipping costs and where the items will be shipping from. Overseas bead sellers will have great prices, but make sure the shipping cost isn't outrageous and take into consideration that it may take time for your purchase to arrive.

Take your time, do not impulse buy. Even though the "auction mentality" is that which makes you feel the push to make rush decisions, realize that most sellers on Ebay now run shops and have multiples of the items they offer, and will run an auction again shortly after it expires.

Compare to find the best price. This step takes time, but is well worth it when you'd like to build up your beads stash while sticking to your budget.

Next stop…try your local thrift stores and antique shops. Thrift stores usually have jewelry counters and you can find great vintage necklaces, earrings, and even loose beads that are extremely workable! Remember you can always unstring jewelry to work with the beads, and you can really find some treasures when hunting through vintage items.

The best part? What seems like junk in a thrift store to some can end up as a treasure for you to turn into a beautiful piece of jewelry or art. Even antique shops may land you with a fantastic find when buying beads on a budget!

What else? Check your local paper, craigslist or take a ride on the weekends and hunt the garage sales. You can find old jewelry being sold for pennies, that can be turned into your beautiful creations!
