Red White Blue
A Red Wedding Color Scheme
Although red is not traditionally associated with weddings, it is a popular color choice and creates a vibrant and eye catching scheme for your wedding. Take a look at these three red inspired wedding color schemes as an alternative to the traditional pink and white!
Red, Pink and Cream:
You may not normally put red and pink together, but if you choose the right shades you will avoid that horrifying clash of colors! Cherry red and candy pink sit fairly close to each other on the color wheel and as such you can also add in the shades in between to create a stunning scheme of graduated tones. I have chosen cream as a softer alternative to white, but if you want a scheme that is bright and funky by all means change it.
Use cream as your base color for table cloths and chair covers and then have everything else in red and pink. Frilly blooms like carnations, tea roses and peonies add a big splashes of color and work beautifully for a grand, extravagant scheme. If you want something a little less bold but no less vibrant go for more structural flowers such as gerbera's, poppies and anemones. Go for candy pink rather than pale pink as it works better with the red and is a beautiful soft foil for the bright red and bland cream.
Red, Blue and White:
Avoid going all patriotic with this scheme! Choose a poppy red, mid-blue and optic white for a scheme that is fresh and vibrant but not lacking in elegance. Use red and blue as the more prominent colors and then pick out the smaller details in white. Look for nice whimsical touches such as polka dots in red and white (think about polka dot ribbon on your wedding favors) and cute blue birds as your wedding cake topper. You can also accent this scheme with silver and plain clear glass.
Red, Green and Ivory:
This is a lovely scheme for a December wedding, but which doesn't have a traditionally festive feel. Again choose a bright red such as poppy or cherry and add a mid green color. Ivory used sparingly will lift these two colors and add to the vibrancy of the scheme. Again whimsical touches like polka dot ribbons, died lace and cute birds will give it a fun and personal touch.
These colors also lend themselves to a spring or summer wedding. By choosing a slightly lighter shade of green such as grass green or spring green and flowers like poppies, white stocks and hydrangeas this scheme will make a stunning and eye catching alternative to the usual pinks and yellows.
