Cancun - World-Famous Seashores And Electrifying Maya Ruins
Everyone has heard of Cancun, that veritable tropical paradise where all your troubles are stripped away in the sparkling turquoise water. Located on the Yucatan Peninsula, Cancun is a prime beach destination. Famous for the clear water, white sand, abundant sea life, and more, Cancun is a great spot for anyone looking to relax on the beach. If you are considering traveling to Cancun, you will need to get a U S passport cards or passport book first.
Cancun makes a great vacation choice for another reason: you don't need to invest in passport books to get there. Instead, you can use a passport card, which are much cheaper. They can be used to travel to Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, and Bermuda, and only if you're going by boat or car. Taking an airplane means you will need a regular passport. There are passport online application for both passport cards and passport books, which can greatly speed up the process. Expedited passport delivery means you can be in Cancun within the week.
As you might imagine, the main reason people travel to Cancun is for the gorgeous beaches with the bright white sand and the clear, glittering water. Just relaxing on these beaches is easily one of the best ways to pass a whole day. One neat thing about the beaches here are the local vendors who walk around selling souvenirs and homemade goods, such as sarongs, jewelry, and seashells. An interesting quality about the beach itself is the cool sand. Cancun sand is made of ground up coral instead of the silica sand we know, and because the coral doesn't absorb heat, it stays pretty cool.
If you'd like to travel to the islands of Cozumel and Isla Mujeres, you can take a passenger ferry from companies like Ultramar. These beaches are definitely worth visiting, and not just for the beaches. Cozumel has Chankanaab National Park, a pristine natural preserve, and Isla Mujeres has Garrafon, an ecological water park.
The Yucatan Peninsula is the heart of what used to be the great Mayan empire. That means that many breathtaking Mayan ruins are still around, and they make for great day trips to go see. El Rey Ruins, located not far from the hotels on the beaches, is a great spot to experience Mayan history. It is believed that the Mayans inhabited this area from around 900 - 1550 AD. It gets its name from the large mask, a sculpture of a noble, and a skull meant to honor the god associated with the sun. There are about 47 structures to explore, with two major ones that are thought to have been used for ceremonies. Keep any eye out for peacocks and iguanas. There are even larger Maya sites if you decide to stray a little farther from Cancun, and these sites won't leave you disappointed.
Those who crave paradise should head to Cancun. There are plenty more things to do than what was mentioned here, including swimming with dolphins, going on a water-side horseback ride, and feeding sharks and touching urchins at the Interactive Aquarium. Just don't forget to apply for your US passport cards or passport before you go on your trip. Once you complete a US passport online application for passport expediting, you can be in Cancun as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions...
I found a green and white jasper stone (genuine, glassy smooth fracture) in NY state. How valuable are they?
I notice that on ebay virtually any piece of quartz that somebody threw into a rock tumbler is apparently allowed to be called jasper, even though they are clearly referred to in the literature as having glassy smooth surfaces at their fracture sites. I have found several of these amongst a sea of glacially deposited, ordinary quartz river stone type rocks and they even have copper, silver and gold particles under 30X magnification. What is the market for these?
Answer:
They aren't worth much. Jasper is very common
Unless it is cut with skill, it has little value. Unless it is an unuasal stone
Jasper is a variety of chrysophase quartz in which there is a pattern formed by silica settling in a pattern that makes it looks somewhat fluid. It can come in any color, but is most commonly red.
