What does "Top" mean in jewelry? Ex. Precious TOP cornflower blue and sapphire ring?
I'm interested in a ring listing that says:

1. what does "top" mean? ive seen alot of listings with that, not only for this one - there's top mystic topaz, top blue sapphire..
2. sapphire is considered precious, is it normal to use it on sterling silver instead of gold?
3. this is the listing, could this be a good buy?

I would be hesitant to buy their jewelry. You are quite right, sapphire and especially cornflower blue are considered precious and are usually found set into gold. If they are set into silver, combined with white sapphire (a cheap replacement for diamonds) it's a cheap ring. Even though they are described as 'natural' I would suspect they are either synthetic or heavily treated sapphire material to achieve this color. The 'Top' is not a classification. Everyone can call their gemstones/jewelry top. They are trying to suggest, it's top of the range, very good material. It's just some kind of advertising to suggest to the buyer that their items are valuable. They could also write 'exclusive', 'rare', 'valuable', expensive, etc. all the same thing.
I would classify this ring as costume jewelry.
As always, if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
