The rutilated quartz coins its first name from the Latin language. The word Rutilus in Latin means red. The name was due to some of the rutilated quartz specimen being red in color. It is one of the most common mineral on earth and makes up about ten percent of the earth's crust. The rutilated quartz can be gotten from any geographical environment.
